Howl is not the only one that eats stars.
A soft breeze caressed the grass, the stars shone in a canvas of blue. The night was beautiful. Patiently she waited for the stars. It would be naive to pretend she didn't know what was coming, what would happen if she caught a star. Part of her screamed incessantly for her to stop but the other reminded her why it was necessary.
As if on cue, a shooting star crossed the sky leaving behind a trail of silver dust. She marveled at the irony, she never imagined that something so beautiful could be the cause of her salvation but also her sorrow. Several others followed, leaving silver streaks in the sky. Countless times had she seen them, marveled from afar. As a child she would lie on the grass and imagine stories where she would help the world alongside a star. Now she was on the same spot with much different intentions. The stars fell lower and lower each time, until they were all flying down around her. Just as she turned to catch one, a shooting star flew next to her grazing her arm. She was exalted with the sudden surge of pain. A dark grey streak had formed in her skin. For a moment she stared at it and wondered how something so beautiful could hurt you?
The small cry of the star made her came back to reality. She walked forward, the grass was lit in a silver glow as it lay curled. Gently she scooped it up in her hand and brought close to her face. It opened its eyes slowly and stared at her for a while.
"I know what you want me for." it said in a sad voice. She was taken aback by the reply of the star and stood silent for a moment.
"I'm really sorry it has to be this way." she answered looking back and couldn't help thinking that her reasons were purely and solely selfish.
"I don't want to die." it replied in the same sorrowful voice.
"You know what we have to do." she said knowing exactly how the star felt. Raising it up to eye level, she waited for it's reply. Slowly it shook it's head in agreement.
"It'll be alright, I promise." Lushia whispered soothingly before pushing the star into her chest.
