Trust

Scully always trusted Mulder, even when she questioned his theories. She always trusted that he would watch her back, that he would be at her side, that he would see the best in her. She trusted him more than any other person alive. And she trusted that he would never leave her.
When he was abducted, her faith in him was broken. Hadn't he promised her that he'd never leave, that night that they had made love? And when she found out that she was pregnant, a miracle that she'd never thought possible, she had her heart broken when she realised that he might never return – that he might break the promise he'd made to her.
She won't trust anyone anymore, not even A.D. Skinner, because the one person she trusted the most had betrayed that trust by leaving her.
