Reflection

Looking in a mirror
My reflection looking back
Sadness in both our eyes
Trying to let go of the dreadful past
Yet not able to
It still grips me strong
Not wanting to let me forget
No matter how much I want to
Still looking in the mirror
Another reflection is suddenly there
Looking back at me
I don't know who I am anymore
The darkness grips at me
Pulls me into its web
But you always seem to pull me out
Your embrace is warm and welcoming
I wish I could stay like this forever
But I know that's not possible
For some day you will leave
As did all the others
But until that day
In your embrace I will stay
Until the day I am truly alone
