Oh God, what did they do to him? He walked right past "Redbird" confused and disoriented. I yelled for him to get into the car. At first, I thought he was going to collapse right there but he went to the passenger side and got in. I followed suit and pulled away from Ellens Air Force Base.

My partner, Mulder, found out a few days ago about a Colonel Budahas who had been missing for six months. No one would help his wife, Anita, find out what happened to him. The Military had been tight-lipped about the whole thing and deprioritized the fact that the Colonel was missing.

Today, before Mulder ditched me, we found out that Colonel Budahas had returned, more or less, unharmed. His wife thought otherwise. She said he was not her husband. Mulder believed that the Military had somehow "rewired" his brain.

We were supposed to leave for D.C. earlier today but Mulder ran off on his own and I had to save his ass -- again. I did it with the unlikely help of that "Redbird" guy aka Paul Mossinger, the reporter. So, here we were. I looked over at my partner. He seemed so far away.

"You okay, Mulder?" He continued to stare straight ahead for minute trying to form words.

He turned to face me. "I think so... Scully, I..."

"What?"

"How did I get here?"

I didn't know what to say. How was I supposed to know? "Mulder," I said gently, "You don't remember? You were there."

"Scully, the last thing I remember was talking to those two kids again."

"They told me you had come here to see the "Yellow Base"." Mulder didn't reply. I looked over at him and immediately pulled over. "Mulder!" He still didn't answer. I went to the passenger side and opened the door. "Mulder!"

He was really out of it, pale, and his eyes were glazed over. I checked his pulse, it was thready. What's wrong with him? What did those bastards do to him? I turned Mulder's head to face mine and tried to make eye contact.

After five long minutes, I succeeded. "Scully?" he said wearily. "What's the matter, Scully, you look a little scared."

I shook my head, "It's nothing, Mulder. How do you feel?"

"Like I just woke up. What time is it?"

"Quarter till six, why?"

"I'm hungry and I want to go back to D.C." I was about to say that was a great idea when he told me he wanted to check on Budahas. I reluctantly agreed and we headed to the house. "Scully, I feel like they took something away from me."

"It's all in your head," I told him.

"Not anymore."
