The Safety Hazards

She didn't know that it was hazardous. All she knew was that she was aiming for the bull's eye. That was it.

Tenten was practicing her aim. Why? She did it because she wanted her aim to be perfect. If she hadn't been concentrating that hard, if she had taken that break 5 minutes ago, if only…

The world was always filled with many 'if only'.

He got hit. It wasn't a major accident, but he got hit. She had tried to pull back, but didn't manage.

She hit him. Three times to be exact. Neji got it three times, by her own kunai's and shuriken's.

A scratch on the shin and cheek. And a bit of his hair cut off.

But that didn't stop her from over-reacting.

"Ack! Neji, are you okay?" she frantically asked, "I'm so sorry, so sorry Neji! Oh, what have I done?"

Of course, Neji wasn't that surprised. He should have anticipated it, "It's okay Tenten. I'm just here to talk-"

"No it's not okay; I hit you with a weapon! My weapon! I need to get my spare bandages!"

"Tenten," said Neji, more firmly. He grasped her elbow in an attempt to calm her down, "It's okay. I'm perfectly fin-"

"Oh no! There's another cut on your arm!" she grabbed his arm painfully, "Neji, I'm so sorry! Just let me get the-"

She never finished. And Tenten would have been to breathless and shocked to reply.

Because she was pushed to the ground and forcefully kissed by Neji.

Even if the kiss was only for a second or two, it silenced her.

She was so shocked. She couldn't even move. All her ninja training went out the window in one fatal swoop. But right then and there, nothing mattered to her. Only the young man above her was on her mind.

She was happy and confused. Her mind was all jumbled up. She became flustered when he stopped and just stared at her.

Neji was breathing in and out, as if to somehow control his temper and nervousness. He was nervous at her reaction.

She finally replied, "I-I'm…I'm so…" she paused. It was too much for him.

"What? What are you going to say? If you want an apology then you're not getting one. I had to do that at least once, at least one-"

"Neji!"

She looked at him. She was confused. But deep down inside her heart, there was also love. But it was hidden, hidden from the world.

And right there and then, Neji could see the love.

It was for him.

"I love you."

He had to go and say that. Inside her head, Tenten didn't know what to think. She knew she did to, deep down, but she wasn't ready.

"I…I love you to. But…I'm not ready. I want to…to fulfil my dreams Neji I-"

Thankfully, he stopped her. With a small kiss on the cheek. Neji's cheeks were a bit pink.

"It's okay Tenten." He gave her a gentle smile, "I'll wait for you."

He pulled her up. And nudged her back into practicing her aim.

But if she had stood with him a bit longer, she might have heard him again.

"I'll wait for you, Tenten."
