A/N: This was a total plot bunny that was threatening to become a serious writers' block if I didn't write it. Not a pairing I particularly like, but one that was suggested by a friend. So there it is, fluff and all. Disclaimer: The following is a fictitious story. Take no offense.
Time Capsule
Well here we go, Marcus." Levi said.
Tonight could possibly be the greatest or worst night of the boy's lives. They were the only ones to try out for 11-12 drum major. They knew that only one of them could walk away with the title.
"Don't cry, okay? Promise me that this won't tear us apart. Promise me Marcus." Levi asked his boyfriend. "Promise me."
He repeated for the third time, his voice cracking.
"I promise Levi, I promise." Marcus' voice was cracking as well. "Good luck Levi." Marcus said, reaching out his hand to shake.
Rather than shake Marcus' hand, Levi reached out and grabbed, pulling Marcus to him for an embrace.

"And I am proud to announce that next year's assistant drum major will be-" Here, the band director paused for dramatic effect. "Marcus ***"
There went Andrew with his presentation routine. Spin, flourish, elbow wrap, roundhouse, spin, left handed rifle toss, point five, kneel and finish. Marcus took his mace and saluted his superior.
"Next year's drum major will be-" Pause. "Levi *****."
After Aubree's elaborate routine, her mace was handed off to Levi and the audience was dismissed for the night.
Before their parents could find them, Marcus and Levi snuck off to duck behind the stage.
Marcus looked ready to cry and Levi, sensing this, whispered a small apology and gathered the other boy into his arms.
"I'm sorry Marcus, shh..." Levi whispered to Marcus, rubbing the other boy's back.
"I know, I'm not sad about that, it's just..." Marcus trailed off.
"What is it babe?" Levi pulled away and looked into his eyes.
"I... I think I love you Levi."
"You think?" Levi was teasing him now, a grin plastered on his face.
"Well I've never really lo-"
"I love you too Marcus."
"Really? You mean that?"
"Of course I do Marcus, how could anyone not?"
Rather than speak in response, Marcus put a hand around Levi's neck and pressed their lips together. Levi didn't push away, and Marcus opened his lips, deepening the kiss.
"I think they're over here." It was Brianna, the outgoing guard captain. "They ran off over this way."
"Yeah, I saw them." Naomi was there too.
Shit, Levi thought, and quickly jumped away from his boyfriend, breaking free just as the girls turned the corner. They smiled sheepishly at eachother as the girls hugged them both, congratulating.

"You love me?" Levi said into his cell phone.
"Yeah, of course." Marcus said into his.
"Even if I'm drum major and you're not?"
"Even if you're drum major and I'm not."
"No matter what?"
"No matter what."
Marcus and Levi hung up their phones and went to sleep, peacefully, though each wishing they could share the other boy's warmth.
