Starrk hovered above the earth looking at the ground below. There was something... beautiful about it.
Down below leaves had changed colors and falling from most of the trees makeing piles which young children jumped in.
Starrk didn't understand just what it was. The hole in his chest began to hurt suddenly...
'Odd...' he thought. His chest throbbed as if a heart was trying to beat within him.
Starrk had never seen the earth like this before...then it wasn't like he was ever allowed to. The human world was for humans after all-but he couldn't help but feel just a little sad that his world didn't have such things. Everything there was sand and death.
The pain in the hole in his chest increased as the sound of young laughter reached his ears from the children below, however far away he was so to not drew attention from unwanted guests.
Gripping at the hole he briefly thought. 'Is this what a heart would feel like?'
Half of him wanted to desperately know-but the other half pushed it away, why would he even want something close to a heart?
"Coyote Starrk."
The sound of his name startled him, but he did not show it, instead he slowly turned around to face no other then Aizen
"Why are you here? I never gave you orders to enter the human realm." He voice was cool as always, the same creepy grin on his face. Starrk could swear he was as bad as Gin, never stops smiling.
"Forgive me, I felt a strange calling I simply could not ignore." Starrk defended.
Aizen stared at him for a while, as if analyzing him, which he was sure he was.
"Ah, I see..." Aizen slowly pulled out his sword. Starrk wasn't afraid of Aizen hurting him-after all, he needed him. But it didn't stop him from inching back.
The sword was brought to the hole in the Arrancar's chest going in until it showed though the other side.
Starrk never broke eye contact.
"It's hurting...isn't it?" a simple question, but how he would know such a thing when Starrk himself gave no indication that it ever was, was a mystery.
"Yes." Was Starrk's only clipped answer.
"A heart is a dangerous thing for an Espada. I'm sure your smart enough to know why."
Starrk did not answer, instead lowering his gaze back to the fallen brown, yellow, and orange leafs children were tossing around.
"You are called to this place, the same way Ulquiorra is called to that girl."
"I die..." It wasn't a question, nor a statement-just fact willing to be said out loud. Starrk thought about it. Would death of such a thing be that bad?
If having a heart meant such fate, would it be worth it? To see this vast beautiful land covered in...what did human's call it? Autumn. Or should he head back home?
Something suddenly occurred to him, he would be free.
Free from this war Aizen was starting, free from his rulings. It wasn't like he wanted to join his fight anyways-yes he hated soul reapers, but the war wasn't worth it-it wasn't like he had a choice. He was needed-his power, his number; being the #1 Espada on the team...team? That was a laugh, they weren't a team, just a group Aizen forced to fight for him.
It wasn't worth it...
The land before him was.
Starrk smiled up at Aizen then and said, "A heart? I think I'm okay with that." and it was true.
And just like that, the hole began to close, and his body began to blow away...
A/N: Yes, I used some of Ulquiorra misfeature to justify my logic. XD (not my best work-but)
This is for the group #TheGotei-13's contest for Autumn in the Bleach world!
I wanted to use my favorite Espada/Arrancar Coyote Starrk! because the guy just get so little love
I think this would have been a more fitting death then the one he had-he didn't want to fight but had to and got killed anyways...
Thoughts are loved!
