Summary: Reno attempts his stand up routine, my first fanfic here so don't be too mean

Usually when Reno is drumming his pen on his desk at Shinra HQ most people think that he's not doing anything useful, in fact he had 3 warnings about it from Tseng today. 5 warnings in a week and its rat poison in the nearest water cooler again, by now he's built up a tolerance to the stuff.

Anyway while most people assume he's not doing anything he actually is.

He's working on his stand up routine

Tonight was open mic night, his one chance to shine, He'd been planning material all week verging on topical humour (most of which he was not supposed to read out due to being sworn to secrecy by Shinra) to general sex jokes, ones that he had been practicing all week as pick up lines, he also now has immunity to being slapped across the cheek.

"Are you going to do any work today?" Elena asks

"Maybe" the red headed Reno responds

"Well do some now. I'm sick of having to walk to the other side of the office for a drink of water because your to lazy to do anything!" she said before turning back to her paperwork mumbling things like "inconsiderate bastard" under her breath

"Okay 'Laney but only for you"

She had no answer for that. It wasn't possible to fit that many swear words in one sentence. It probably started after the incident where she spilled coffee over Tseng's new suit, she had been paired in the office with Reno ever since and he had been unbearable.

"Aaaaah, Quitting time" Reno says as he spins his chair around and gets up "See you tomorrow 'Laney" and leaves before anyone can tell him work doesn't end for another 50 minutes. Elena was just glad to be rid of him.

It was finally his chance to shine, to let his comedic genius be seen by the world, or at least the audience, so what if this was only a low-class bar? so what if there was less oxygen here than in a Mako reactor core? This was going to be the greatest moment of his life. He heard the announcer introduce him, he took the stage and then… he saw them. Elena, Tseng and Rude were looking on at Reno from the crowd, he froze.

"So" Tseng said, "Same time next month again?" The other two just smiled as Reno choked on the stage
