It was her first day working as the receptionist for Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch and Pam Beesly was nervous. She slowly exhaled and stepped out of her car, staring at the entrance to the building in front of her.
As soon as she crossed the threshold of her new workplace, Pam looked around and took in her surroundings. The first person she laid eyes on was her new boss, Michael Scott. He walked over to her with a big smile on his face and extended his hand.
"Good morning! You must be Pamela! I think I'll just call you Pam."
Pam gave him a polite smile. "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Scott."
"You don't have to be so formal! Call me Michael, okay?" Michael grinned as they shook hands.
Pam simply nodded. "Okay."
Michael gave her a pat on the shoulder and said jokingly, "Jeez, lighten up, will ya? Well anyway, here's your desk, and my office is over there. I'll give you a better tour later." Pam watched as Michael walked over to each of his employees and stood next to them, shouting out each of their names. I guess that's his way of introducing them to me. She smiled to herself and sat down at her new desk. There was something about her new boss… something she hadn't felt for some time.
Pam decided to worry about her feelings later; the phone was ringing.
