Just a little drabble that popped in my head.
To See Her Smile
His legs shook as he drew a shaking breath. The battle had been harsh, but it wasn't over yet. The steel monster towered over him, charging up its final attack. He knew it was time for him to act, but he also knew he would wait. He would wait until he heard her voice, cheering him on, regardless of the steel monster's strength. Then...
"Now, Storm! You can do it!"
The Luxray smiled to himself as he heard her voice, before unleashing all his energy in one outburst, Thunder.
Defeated, the steel monster slumped to the ground. It had been too close for the attack to miss. His energy seemingly restored, he trotted back to the edge of the arena to his trainer's side.
He looked up at her with anxious eyes. What did she think? Would she be happy with his efforts? All fears disappeared from him as she knelt down and embraced him.
"You did it, Storm!" she whispered into his black fur. "We won the tournament!"
As she pulled away and went to collect their prize, he looked on with happy eyes. The tournament had never mattered to him. All he'd ever really wanted, was to see her smile.
