Chapter One.

She put the tattoo pen away. Safely hiding it under the altar of the chapel. It was a good enough hiding space for now. Piper winced at the new pain she'd caused herself. Her bra was uncomfortable against her new infinity symbol.

"cliche my ass" she thought as she left the chapel.

It only took her about 30 seconds of walking the empty corridors to know something was wrong. It was too quiet, she didn't pass another inmate and she wandered aimlessly. She had nowhere to be, she'd pissed too many people off to sit comfortably with someone.

In the deafening silence Piper's mind wandered to Alex, as it usually did. Piper had a lot to make up for, she'd been such an asshole. She had been flattered by the attention Stella had given her. Alex had been so... annoying. She'd decided she'd find Alex. Maybe show her the tattoo pen and trade something with Daya to give Alex a new tattoo, that would make her feel better.

Piper hadn't realised she'd let her feet lead her outside, she could hear the birds, feel the gentle summers breeze across her face. But it wasn't just birds she could hear.

She could hear the squeals of delight from inmates, water splashing. That's when she saw It, the gap in the fence. She glanced over her shoulder. "where were the guards?" She quickly shoved the thought away as she started a slow jog towards the gap.

She could see Boo crashing through the underbrush, visibly soaking but grinning from ear to ear.

Piper heard something else, something she recognised. She stopped. The sound was coming from the nearby greenhouse.

Was that Alex?

Was she crying?

no, whimpering.

Piper ran, towards the greenhouse, she ran so fast she could feel bile in her throat, she could hear her heart pounding in her ears.

She was right outside the greenhouse now. She could hear something scrping, it sounded like metal across wood. She could hear Alex, crying softly.

"Aydin"

Piper knew that name. Yet she couldn't place it. Her mind did cartwheels.

"aydin, you don't have to do this"

That's when Piper realised how she knew the name. She'd met Ayden once, he was one of Kubra's lackey's. He was always eager to please his boss, did exactly as he was told.

Piper burst through the door, taking in the scene as fast as she could. Alex was curled in a ball near the tool cage, her dark hair covered her face. There was blood but Piper couldn't be sure where it came from.
She had the element of surprise as she brought a heavy plant pot down across Aydin's shoulder, a sickening crunch filled the air and Piper didn't have time to contemplate if it was his bones she heard crack or the plant pot.
Aydin wheeled round, a wild look in his eyes. There was blood on his knuckles and on his guards uniform.
his guard uniform? What the fuck?
Piper's mind was reeling. She didn't have time to register the punch as his fist came into contact with her jaw.

Alex hadn't moved, Piper was still fighting with aydin, but he was winning. His hands closing around her throat, her vision was blurring.

"a..a..Alex" she managed to squeeze out before her vision blacked.
