Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Percy Runs Away" from Season 1. Enjoy and comment.
Gordon, James and Henry had been locked in their sheds for a very long time. They were lonely, and wanted to be let out.
"When will Sir Topham Hatt let us out?" moaned James.
Finally, Sir Topham Hatt arrived.
"I hope you have learned your lesson." he said, "and know that every job on Sodor is important. We have a new engine named Percy, who can pull coaches. Thomas and Edward have worked the main-line nicely. However, I will let you out of your sheds, on the condition that you all be really useful and do as you are told."
"Yes sir!" said the three engines. "We will work hard!"
"And remember to stop talking nonsense about shunting!"
Sir Topham Hatt then went to see Percy, Thomas and Edward.
"I have let the big engines return to work. Because you have worked so hard, you can play on the branch-line for a few days."
The engines were excited.
While Thomas worked the branch-line, Edward and Percy played with freight cars in the yard.
"Stop, stop!" squealed the freight cars as they were put into place.
Edward and Percy enjoyed this very much.
Next, Edward took some empty cars to the quarry.
Percy decided to stay behind and watch the big engines do their jobs.
"Hurry up with your jobs!" he teased, making them very cross.
After doing some more shunting, Percy waited at the station for the signal to drop.
But Percy was being careless and not paying attention.
Edward had warned Percy to be careful on the main-line, and to whistle to the signalman at each station, but Percy had forgotten this.
So Percy waited and waited.
The signal was still red, so Percy couldn't move.
Then there was trouble, Gordon was hurrying up the line with the Express… on the same track Percy was on!
"GET OUT OF MY WAY!" groaned Gordon.
The driver applied Gordon's brakes, just in time!
Gordon was crosser than ever, but Percy was so frightened by Gordon, that he ran away from him!
He was so frightened, that he ran up Gordon's hill without stopping.
Worse, he had no driver to apply his brakes!
"I need to stop, I need to stop!" he puffed.
Thankfully, a signalman switched Percy onto an empty siding.
Percy was finally able to stop at a bank of dirt.
The workmen came over to him.
"We shall give you a drink and some coal, to make you feel better."
Soon, Gordon arrived. He was very pleased.
"Well done Percy! You have prevented a very nasty accident!"
"I'm sorry if I was being cheeky." said Percy.
Gordon then helped pull Percy out of the dirt bank.
The two engines are now great friends, and Percy is more careful whenever he goes on the main line.
