Cylo was currently sitting at the mouth of a large cave when he heard a chuckle behind him. He didn't even have to turn around.
"Fang, I'm glad you've come."
"I had no choice Cylo. You needed my assistance." Fang said softly, now coming into the light. "You and I are of the same species and we need to stick together. As far as I am concerned, we need to stick near each other."
"No Fang. You have to stay away from me! They don't know about you yet; they have been hunting me for a long time. If they know you are the same as me then you will be hunted down too! You deceived them by saying your true form was a red version, but we both know you are like me."
"I had too. If I told them about my true form, they would have tried to kill me. But we can't stay here forever."
"What about your castle? Castle Lobo?"
"They will search for us for sure there. I need to get you somewhere safer." Fang said. "I will take you to the Grant Mansion."
"I will return there shortly. No, you can't reveal you are of the same species as I am. If I die, we need you to live so that you can carry on and save our species." Cylo said softly.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that you can't reveal yourself to anyone! If you die, there is no hope. I think we are the only ones left Fang. I haven't seen or met anyone from our species in many, many years. The last one I met died because he was hunted like they are doing to me now."
"I won't let you battle alone!"
"What good will it be if you die with me?! You will let our species just fade away forever?!"
"We owe it to be by each other's side. You are like a brother to me."
"That is why I came to Earth. I came to see you because your energy was faint, but still strong enough for me to follow. I could tell that you were one of my same species."
"But now that we know we are the same, we must stand together."
"No Fang. You must keep your origin a secret; I tried to keep mine a secret, but now that I am older, it is harder and harder to hide my true form."
"What about your shape-shifting ability?"
"That will do no good Fang. They have created machines. New machines that can track us now! It won't be long before they find you too!"
"We won't let them win this! We can't be extinct!" Fang said angrily.
"Fang, we are about as endangered as the Vladats now. This could be the end."
Fang sadly looked at his friend and then lifted his head as if he was listening for something. Cylo turned slowly and saw people far in the distance heading their way.
"Fang, you must disappear. They are coming."
"Who is chasing you at this hour?!"
"The Society. They are a secret department of the Forever Knights. Except their sole purpose is to search for our species. They are very quiet, but lethal. Many of our kind have died by their hand."
"I won't leave you with those monsters!"
"Fang go! Do as I say! If we are both killed, we will be a disgrace to the memory of those who died before us." Cylo said, now getting into a running position. Fang placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "I will be alright Fang, now time is short. Go and be careful!"
And with those words, Cylo faded into thin air and so did Fang.
