Death's Smile

Long ago, in different age,

Was told, "face death with honest grin."

Somehow the words come back to me,

Within the sound of battle's din.

...

Bullets tear through mortal flesh,

Heavy shells go screaming by.

Every so often from above,

A missile comes from cloudy sky.

...

Keep advancing to Stonehenge,

With our APCs and tanks.

Ever rumbling on and forward,

Ever trying to keep our ranks.

...

But then a different sound is heard,

Followed by crushing shockwave.

Stonehenge is firing on ground forces,

Price in blood soon to be paid.

...

Once salvation of this world,

Now just another tool of war.

Usurped by the Sons of Troia,

Who knows what they are fighting for?

...

The UNF moves onward, forward,

Must do so, not to waste their toil.

So no ill will I give my fellows,

As I lie dying in the soil.

...

For death is always coming for us,

And this death will take a long while.

So all I do is wait for death,

With silence, and with bloody smile.
