Homecoming

The Nord woman walked through a misty place as she moved toward the afterlife. As she stopped for a moment to rest she let her eyes close and her mind drift back to the day of her death.

Mikayla-daughter of Astrid and the Dark Brotherhood- slipped quietly out of the house. She started out but stopped when a child's voice spoke.
"Mama?" her daughter asked. Mikayla turned back. She hugged her daughter.
"Lucia, go back inside and back to bed." She said. She pushed the girl towards the house and darted through Whiterun's gate. She ran not even weighed down by her leather armor. She was late as it was. A guard ran up to her.
"Hey I know you." He said. Mikayla shook her head and kept going. She caught up with the bulk of the Imperial Legion as they marched on Windhelm. She fought like a dragon the Stormcloak soldiers falling easily before her. She entered the Palace of the Kings just as General Tullius fell struck down by Ulfric Stormcloak. She strode forward Imperial soldiers at her back but they stopped at her command.
"Ulfric! Your opponent is me now. I warn you I am not so easily defeated." She said. Ulfric moved towards her and they clashed. Her Elven sword rang against his iron sword. She began to force Ulfric to his knees. He unleashed the power of the Voice throwing her off balance. As she staggered back he lunged driving his blade through her heart and as she fell to her knees she sliced open his chest and he fell. Her last conscious thought was of Lucia and her husband Farkas.

Mikayla opened her eyes. "I have to keep moving." She said to herself and she started out again. She saw the gates of Sovngarde and the gates of the void. Ysgramor himself awaited her but she shook her head. "Tell Kodlak I said hello." She said then turned toward the Void. Her mother and father -Astrid and Arnbjorn- were waiting for her with open arms. She burst into a run and flung herself into her mother's arms. Holding her mother and father's hands she walked into the Void and never looked back.
