A Smashing New Year with Mario and Luigi
It's New Year's Eve in Smash City where a huge celebration is taking place and tonight is a very special night for the Smashers because in just a few hours, the famous Smash Ball will drop down from the pole of the Smash Building to welcome 2019.
"Good evening, everyone! Welcome to the Super Smash Bros. New Year's Eve celebration coming to you live from Smash City!" Xander said with a smile, "I'm your announcer Xander Mobus and it's a beautiful night for us because all of the Smashers are gathered here tonight to welcome 2019 and with less than two hours to go until the Smash Ball drops, this is going to be the ultimate event of the year!"
Mario is enjoying the event with his brother and said, "Well Luigi, here we are at the final night of 2018. It has been a wild ride for us, wasn't it?"
"It sure was, Mario," Luigi replied with a smile, "This year was amazing and pretty soon, it will be 2019!"
"Me too! I can't wait for the ball to drop."
As the celebration continued on, everyone is enjoying the fun. That is what New Year's Eve is all about.
Pretty soon, the countdown to 2019 is about to begin. Xander Mobus looked at the ball and said, "Well Smash Bros. fans, we are now just three minutes away from midnight and every Smasher in the universe is watching the ball very closely as we await Master Hand's arrival to push the button. And here he is!"
Just then, Master Hand came in and said to the crowd, "Thank you all for an amazing celebration tonight! This year was full of surprises and we even started our fifth tournament thanks to you. Give yourselves a big hand."
The entire Smash City agreed as they applaud themselves for a great year. Then Master Hand said, "Now then, the time has come for the grand finale so, can I have Mario and Luigi to come on stage to push the button."
Mario and Luigi smiled as they came on stage with Master Hand. Then he said to the audience, "Smash City, are you ready for the ball drop?"
"YEAH!" The entire city replied.
"All right, then. Mario and Luigi, it's all yours. Press the button and let's start the countdown!"
Mario and Luigi looked at the button for a few seconds, took a deep breath and then...
PUSH!
The Smash Ball began its descent as the timer now shows one minute. Xander Mobus smiled and said, "And here we go, folks! We are now officially sixty seconds away as Mario and Luigi pressed the button to start the drop. This is going to be very exciting!"
As the ball continued to drop, all over Smash City is cheering with excitement as they watched it very carefully. Just thirty more seconds until midnight.
After another twenty seconds of waiting, the timer reached the ten second mark. Everyone in Smash City watched the ball for the last time, took a deep breath, and began counting down the final moments. It all comes down to this, the final countdown!

"9..."
"8..."
"7...
"6..."
"5..."
"4..."
"3..."
"2..."
"1..."
And then...
It's official.
"HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
BOOM!
With the words shouted, the Smash Ball has officially touched down, releasing fireworks from the top of the Smash Building as the entire city cheered for the official start of 2019 with fireworks going off.
Mario and Luigi hugged each other as they shared their first hug. Then Mario said, "Happy New Year, Luigi."
"Same to you, bro." Luigi replied with a smile.
And so begins another great year.
