Last Thoughts

I didn't ask for this.

I never thought I'd be the one to carry such responsibility.

I'm just a girl like any other.

But I have the power to purify these demonic souls.

This battle's been raging for six nights, seven days.

Today is the seventh night and I feel like resting.

I go to the cave in the demon slayer village.

I send Kirara away.

I told her I'd met her once it was all over.

And maybe we will meet again, in the next life.

I'll always regret leaving her alone.

The demons become one.

But I feel as if I have been torn in half.

Have to protect, have to keep it pure.

I collect the last of my life and take aim.

Pain . . .

Wounded!

A cheap shot through my chest.

The life drains out of me.

Like the dreams I had to let go when this all began.

But everything has to end.

So I focus. I hope.

For a girl stronger than me, who can keep it pure.

What is that light?
