As The Sun Sets...
A KH Drabble
They had promised each other, staring out at the sun setting.
A/N: This was just a bit of random fluff that I needed to clear out of my head. I killed two birds with one stone, as this completes another one of my 100 topics, now cut down to 97. It's just a really sappy scene between Sora and Kairi. I'd like to thank BitterSweet-Neko for being my wonderful beta. hugs
Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hearts, Sora our and associated characters. They are property of Square Enix, Squaresoft, Buena Vista Games, and Dinsey. I do, thankfully, own this sappy fanfiction.
Sora laid back against the wood of the dock, arms stretching out and act as a pillow. He sighed contentedly and gazed up at the sunset. The bright orange and red and yellows cast the two into an ethereal glow.
"I can't believe it's been over a year since we last were sitting here together." He turned his head over to where Kairi was sitting, fumbling with her thassela shells.
"Well, I wasn't the one who went to sleep for a year, So-ra." Kairi teased. "Ya lazy bum." Sora put up his hands in mock defense before he laid back down to look at the sun setting. Kairi followed his gaze.
"I can't believe it either." She said in a hushed voice. "So much has happened since then…" Their world being destroyed…Sora losing his heart…Kingdom Hearts being closed…waiting for a year for someone she couldn't remember…
"Yeah." Sora said. Kairi gave him a thoughtful look.
"I'm glad you kept your promise." She turned to look at him and gave him a warm smile.
"Promise?" he wondered, thinking back to when they had last talked like this, right before the Heartless had come. 'Don't ever change' Kairi had said, swinging her legs at the dock's edge. He had just laughed and told her that she was the one who had changed.
"Oh yeah…" he said, sitting up to look at her. "I think…after all this time…you were the one to stay the same, Kairi."
She stopped fumbling with her shells, the ones that had served as his Keychain, and mumbled a 'thanks' before sitting up, pulling out his hand, and placing the charm in his hands.
She whispered in his ear before moving to plant a warm kiss on his cheek. She walked away, leaving a shocked Sora sitting there in the light of the sunset, clutching his beat-red face and holding her charm.
He gave a slight grin before laying back down, holding up the charm and staring at it with the same dopey grin on his face.
"I love you." She had said. "Don't ever change."
Well, I hope you enjoyed my "Sunset" theme...whatever...
Ja Ne!
