To put it short, X was stuck.
After the exile of Dr. Weil and Omega, the Dark Elf had appeared to X. It had sat there quietly for a moment, X's shock replacing his ability to fight, then the creature had dropped 4 personality cores and disappeared. X had picked up the 4 cores, to discover that they were somehow implanted with his 'DNA', so to speak. One was female, the other 3 males. However, they still required a body. So X had begun that task himself.
He had come up with basic ideas so far. To assist him, each unit would have special capabilities. One would be a flyer, another could swim, one was for land assault, and the last was to be built for stealth. However, X couldn't figure out good designs for them.
Accessing his databanks, he analyzed every reploid he had ever met, analyzing, their looks and style. However, he didn't find any good ones, even after double and triple-checking. Suddenly a thought struck him.
He looked in the small database his creator had granted him, filled with all the robots from the era of his older brother, Mega Man. Looking through, he decided to base all the robots after his own brothers, not Dr. Wily's robots.
He started with the flyer, sketching out a basic outline. He decided, in order to pay tribute to all his siblings, he would base the body after one sibling, and the armor after another. They would all also have heavy-duty alternate forms, in case of gigantic emergencies, such as if they had to face a threat as powerful as Omega had been. The flyer, he decided, would have the sharp face and lean build of his 3rd oldest brother, Elec Man. The armor would be similar to his only flying sibling, the sharp Tornado Man. Deciding on a name, he came up with Sage for the fact that this elder siblings would guide the others, and Harpuia for the Guardian's graceful nature. This one's alternate form would be like an airship designed similarly to a raptor. Sage Harpuia Light, X thought, shaking his head. I wonder what dad would think of me making him grandchildren.
The second child would be the female, the swimmer. Due to having only 2 sisters, this came easily to X. The girl's face and build would be similar to small but playful Roll, while naturally her armor would be similar to the mermaid Splash Woman. Fairy Leviathan would be the reploid's name, the former name for her light build, the later for her abilities in the water. Her emergency form would be similar to a manta ray.
The 3rd would be the ground unit. He would probably need a thick body as well as armor, so X gave him what the blue robot thought Cold Man would look like if the refrigerator-style robot would be like if he looked more human. As for armor, the thick Magma Man would do the job nicely. Fighting would be the child's first name, for that was what he would have to do, while Fefnir was similar to the name of a powerful Norse dragon. In fact, this one would become a tank that looked similar to a dragon, if need be.
Now the final one stumped him. He knew he wanted Time Man's features to accompany this robot, but he didn't know how he would execute the armor. He had tried Plug Man and Galaxy Man's armors, but he didn't like either.
Suddenly, it came to X. He did have another set of brothers, the DLWN series. These brothers, Magnet, Spark, Needle, Top, Gemini, Snake, Hard, and Shadow, had stayed with Wily after their rebellion, yet according to what his databanks said, Bass had reported that they had been worried that would be treated as drones, much like they had been by most humans when they were mining crystals to power Gamma. Only their brothers and Dr. Light had treated them kindly. In fact, Mega and Proto Man had tried repeatedly to get them to come home, though they were met with hesitant refusals each time. Selecting the ninja form of Shadow, X lay back and slept. In his sleep, he dreamed of his family smiling down on him.
