Prologue
Generations ago there was a teenage Necromancer who simply went by the name of "Wolf". He dated a Theurgist by the name of Amy Lotuscoin, and all of the other student wizards mused at how their wizardry schools were polar opposites. However, Amy Lotuscoin's inner most being was also at polar opposites with her magic school. Near the end of her lover's life, she converted to Necromancy. However, the reason was not to resurrect her beloved. It was the very thing that lead to his death.
As sweet a man as Wolf was, he was not faithful to Amy. There was another who he thought Lotuscoin was in the dark about: His frosty mistress, Mindy Pixiecrown. Amy was no fool, and in her jealous insanity she turned to Death magic. She tortured Wolf in her own home, which lead to his death. Heartbroken and knowing that she would be targeted next, Mindy used her lifeforce energy as well as her Ice magic to turn her and Wolf's unborn child into a being that would eventually become Valgard Goldenblade. Amy Lotuscoin was arrested and eventually gave birth to a son during her sentence, who was taken away from her and raised by two young men who were newly weds.
Generations later, the descendants of these wizards can be found throughout the Spiral. However, most of them reside in Wizard City. A phantom of Mindy Pixiecrown's former self resides on Colossus Boulevard, unaware that her life ended decades and decades ago. Nobody associated with Ravenwood knows about this because Pixiecrown's body disappeared when she ended her life. Although the professors have likely noticed that she hasn't aged in decades, they are very hush hush about it. The only person who knows that the present Mindy Pixiecrown doesn't exist is Private O'Doyle, who took pity on her and adopted her as his niece as a cover. He has never told her and hopes that one day, a Necromancer will help her spirit move on to the other side.
