Flowers for Algernon-Fanfiction

( 's Point of View)

Progress Report 1- March 29th

I've been told that when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. But this is way harder than making lemonade. My partner, Dr. Strauss, and I have put our first experiment of getting a higher I.Q. on a human. His name is Charlie Gordon, who has mental disabilities and really "wants to get smart". My partner says he has great motivation but I don't know if that's what we need. What if someone like Charlie Gordon's brain is too different than a regular human brain and it doesn't work? That's why I'm writing this, in case it does work. So other can see how I-and Dr. Strauss- created the first ever successful experiment of raising a person's intelligence.

Progress Report 2- May 10th

Charlie and Algernon, a mouse that had the same operation as Charlie, was presented to the American Psychological Association, with the World Psychological Association sitting inside. They both were a big hit and the association accepted me as a genius. Me, a genius! ….Oh, and Dr. Strauss too, of course. My wife is so proud of me for once as well! Finally, I make my wife proud and the world has finally accepted my work! ... And Dr. Strauss too….

Progress Report 3- July 27th

I'm sorry I haven't written in a while, but writing isn't really my thing and their seems to be no need anymore. Algernon stopped doing his tests that makes sure he's staying intelligent, and died a while ago. Charlie now has a series of amnesia. Dr. Strauss and I have been reading his progress reports, and Charlie has lost all that he learned after the operation. My partner won't talk to me, as well as my wife who won't talk to me and is worried about money. I have seen newspapers with articles of how Dr. Strauss and I failed our life long work of research. I fear the world will never look at me the same ever again…

Progress Report 4- July 28th

(This is a copy of the note Mr. Nemur found when her husband disappeared)

Dear my loving wife, the hospital, and my brilliant partner ,

I have gone to find Charlie Gordon, who left to New York City yesterday after he gave his last progress report to the hospital. I must him for two reasons. One, to possibly save my life long work. And two, to show Charlie what a difference he has made to the wonderful world. Charlie is more intelligent than most of the people here on earth, and has showed us the two different worlds he has gone through. He has been an inspiration to us all; especially to the people he has worked with. Even me.

Best Regards,

Dr. Nemur

PS: For the people who worry about me; don't. I will be safe on my travels and will be back as soon as I find him.
