Neimi pulled back the string of bow, the cord taut beneath calloused fingers, feathers of the arrow ticking her palm.
Her eyes locked on her target: an apple, bright red and juicy, dangling from a branch. Despite having just eaten dinner, she was hungry, and as the sun set itself on descending from the sky, she set herself on shooting down an apple.
Closing her eyes, Neimi exhaled, and opened her fingers. The arrow shot through the air, silent, but sure, and within a few seconds, speared the stem of the apple. Neimi dashed forward and caught it, clench it between her hands.
True to its look, the apple was sweet and crisp. Juice ran down her chin and she smacked her lips approvingly, taking another bite out of the apple. Exhaling, she allowed herself to slump down a tree, glad for a moment of quiet with her snack.
