"Ooohh!"
A high-pitched squeal reverberated through Godric's Hollow as James made his way through the front door. Closing and locking the door behind him and putting his cloak on the stand, James looked around for his wife and their three week old son.
After not immediately seeing them both, James' eyebrow raised in inquiry as he called out Lily's name. After a moment, Lily's head popped around the door of the kitchen, with a content smile on her face and upon seeing James, her smile grew even wider; her arms beckoning James to her. James looked at his wife and cocked his head to the side, but Lily said nothing as she made her way back into the kitchen.
James' curiosity grew larger as he followed his wife through the door of the kitchen, walking to her and putting his strong arms around her waist; smiling down at his son sitting in his capsule. Leaning down, he rested his head on her shoulder, "What's going on?" He looked at her with his eyebrows lost in his mop of ebony hair.
Lily turned her head and smiled again, leaving the warmth of James arms and turned towards a sleepy Harry.
"Go on, Harry." She said. "Do it again for daddy, sweetheart." Lily leaned over Harry's capsule again and cooed at him.
"What exactly did he do, Lily?" James walked over to her again and looked down at his son, who seemed to be quite content lifting his foot to his mouth and sucking lazily on his toes. Lily reached forward and put his foot back down. "He smiled at me. Didn't you Harry?" Lily cooed again and James looked from his wife to his son and back to his wife again.
"Are you sure? Perhaps he just had gas or something?"
Lily shook her head. "I'm positive. He looked at me, and he smiled. Isn't that amazing? He knows his mum. That's for sure." James smiled at his son and leaned down over is capsule, waiting for Harry to reciprocate the action for him.
Harry blinked up at James... once... twice... three times, and then proceeded to cry. Lily laughed and lifted Harry up onto her shoulder, his crying ceasing almost immediately. James pulled a disgruntled face as he looked at his son resting upon Lily shoulder.
"It was just bad timing, that's all." James huffed as he watched his wife sooth their son.
"Of course, dear."
