Author's Note: Nut here and this was written when I was sick and BEFORE Sozin's Comet came out. This is why I think Azula had a breakdown in the NYCC trailer.
The princess hadn't been getting a lot of sleep since the prison break. As she looked in the mirror to see what she looked like, her mother, Ursa, suddenly appeared out of nowhere. She was pretty sure that it was a hallucination. The princess knew that her mother was weak before she left, and still believed that, so she wondered why her mother would appear to her as a hallucination. Her amber eyes narrowed as she continued to look in the mirror, she didn't even care her hair was a mess and that there were dark circles under her eyes.
"What have you done?" Ursa asked her daughter, disappointment and anger in her voice, and the princess had to resist the urge to laugh.
"What have I done?! The correct question is, what have you done?" The princess replied, her voice full of venom. Ursa's expression softened, she wondered if her daughter knew the truth, "You return after all these years and decide to ask me that?! Sorry, mother, but it doesn't work that way!" She spat 'sorry' and 'mother' out like they were a type of poison.
"What has your father done to you?" Ursa asked herself aloud.
"It's not what Dad did, it's what you did!" She said as tears started forming in her eyes, "You left all because he was going to kill Zuko! You never cared about what happened to me! You only cared about my brother!" The princess yelled, her voice never wavering, as the tears started streaming down her face. She felt like a lost little girl that just wanted to know why things happened the way they did.
"Azu-" She was interrupted.
"No! Don't call me by my name! You never had that right!" The princess yelled as she grabbed the closest object she could reach, a brush, "You only ever though of me as a monster!" She told her mother as she turned around, hand holding the brush raised.
"That's-" Ursa was cut off as her daughter fully turned around and threw the brush at the mirror. The brush hit exactly where Ursa's head was and the glass shattered, falling to the floor. The princess' head was bowed as her tears took over and her shoulders started to shake. She didn't care anymore as she continued to have a breakdown.
