Notes: I recently delved into the world of Runaways and fell in love. Karolina became a favourite character, being one of the few lesbian girls in graphic novels. Her relationship with Xavin seems incredibly romantic to me, and thus this little snippet was born.

She's read about shock, about how a person might feel cold following trauma. Finding out you are not human after all, and neither are your parents—that only half your friends can be called Earthlings—ranks pretty high in her book, and so Karolina just wears more sweaters and jeans. But the cold grows a little, as Nico descends into awkward stuttering at an attempted kiss, and as she sees her home vanish into space.
But still, with Xavin holding her hand and the bright suns of Majesdane filling her skin, Karolina thinks that she might just be warming up.
