Autumn 3rd

"And that's the last of it!" Orland exclaimed, placing the box down and dusting his hands; I turned towards him.

"Thanks again for helping me move." He just gave one of his rare smiles, nodding.

"Hey, we're family now right?" he asked as I felt a ray of happiness emerge. I gave a nod as Leann walked in.

"This is such a quaint little house, Clara!" My cousin exclaimed, looking outside towards our daughters playing, "I really admire it, and the floating whale island is a nice touch as well!" I gave a nod to my head.

"Cadence really likes it too. Speaking of, thanks for bringing Eglantine over. She really enjoys her little cousin's company.

"And Eglantine enjoys playing with Cadence." Orland began, "She really looks up to her older cousin." Leann gave a nod as she began again.

"Trampoli is a very nice village. So peaceful! Nothing like Palermo."

"Well…" I began, giving a giggle, "I wanted a farm to still be able to tend my crops. The previous owner is too old to care for it herself. She lives at the inn now I think. I haven't met her, but she seems really sweet in her letters." It was silent for a moment as we watched our children play.

"So when does Cadence begin school?" Leann asked

"The school here starts in a few days." I placed my finger to my lips in a thinking manner, "We should be moved in by the time it starts." Orland cleared his throat.

"Anyway, it's getting late. We should probably be going. We'll be back tomorrow to help you unpack and move your furniture."

Our good-byes seemed to take forever as we waited for the carriage to take Leann, Orland, and Eglantine home, the fancy carriage pulled up as Orland helped his wife into the carriage. However, before he could pick his daughter up, she ran towards me and gave me one final hug.

"Bye-bye Clara!" she exclaimed before rushing back towards the carriage, allowing her father to pick her up and put her inside. There was absolutely no doubt she was Orland's little girl, her long pointy ears, her big blue eyes, and her light orange hair gave it away. And to be honest, her grandfather, Jake, spoils her more than her father, much to Cecilia's dismay.

Little Eglantine definitely has her father wrapped around her little finger. If Leonel were still here…he would be wrapped around Cadence's finger. I sighed…father's and their daughter.

It was six PM, Cadence and I were munching on a sandwich. It was the only thing I could make since my cooking things weren't unpacked, but Cadence didn't seem to mind.

"I'm going over to grandma Dorothy and grandpa Barrett's, right mama?" she asked as I looked over at her, nodding.

"Yeah, so play nicely with your aunt Yuri." She looked down, nodding. It was a shame Cadence and Yuri didn't get along. They were very close in age, more close in age than she and Eglantine…then again Yuri was considered a tomboy while Cadence was pretty girly…I blamed my mom for that…she always bought Cadence the latest fashions from Norad…and…the more I thought about it…she was also very much like Leonel…Leonel was very quiet and reserved, just like her…

"Cadence…" I began as a little 'hm?' escaped her lips, I just sighed. "Are you…excited for school?" she just shrugged, pulling her knees up to her.

"I…I guess." I just sighed, trying to make small talk.

"You know, I heard a princess goes to school where you're going." She looked up at me, blinking.

"That's impossible, mama…she would go to school in private…like with a tutor…" I shrugged.

"You never know, sweetie." Cadence looked at her sandwich and blinked.

"That would be pretty cool…"

"Your grandpa Barrett even knows them." Cadence just looked at me with a blank expression.

"He's probably making up stories, mama." I just chuckled.

"Yeah, you're probably right." We both took a bite of our sandwiches, as I looked out the window. The pitter patter of rain racing on the glass.

"I'll see you in the morning, Cadence." I whispered, her bed made from blankets since we hadn't unpacked our furniture. I kissed her forehead, extinguishing the candle in the room. I walked towards her door and I paused, listening to her.

"Night, mama."

I turned and smiled at her, leaning at her doorway, I could just look at her all night, but I needed sleep.

"I love you, Cadence." I said, as I saw Cadence's lips curve to a smile.

"I love you too, mama." And with that I walked out of her room towards what would be my room. I sat on my blanket made bed, pulling the comb from my hair, allowing my long fiery hair to cascade down my back. I laid down, my hair fanning my pillow. I began to drift, allowing the pitter patter of the raindrops to lull me to sleep.

Yeah…Crappy probably…but yeah
