The Proposal
A BONES Oneshot
It was an amazing night with the stars shimmering. Booth had taken Bones to dinner near the lake. Everything seemed perfect, right.
Booth and Bones were lying on a blanket in the sand. There were candles everywhere and a picnic basket with eaten food.
"Bones." Booth said. "Temperance." He corrected. "I love you so much." He told her.
"I know." She smiled. "I love you too."
"We've been partners for six years, and lovers for one. I couldn't picture my life without you..." He started. He pushed himself up onto one knee. "Will you marry me?" He asked her.
"Booth..." She said with tears in her eyes. "Marriage is irrational-" She started. Then she sighed.
"Please." He begged in a low voice.
"Yes. Yes I will marry you, Booth." She told him. He smiled really wide.
"Yeah?" He smiled.
"Yes." She said again with a smile.
"Here." He handed her a jewelry box. She opened it. It it sat a beautiful silver ring with three diamonds. A tear slid down her cheek.
"Booth. How did you afford this?" She asked.
"I have ways." He smiled and pulled her into his arms.
"Thank you." She said.
"You're welcome... Mrs. Booth" He said smiling.
"I will not take your last name."
"Why?" He moaned.
"Because." She replied.
"Is something wrong with my name?" He asked.
"No. I just don't want to change my last name. You can take mine-"
"No." He said. "The man always gets to keep his name."
"Fine. Let's fight about this later. Right now..." She started, then their lips met. The kiss was tangy and sweet at the same time. Booth put his arms around her and pulled her down so they were both lying down. She giggled a bit as they pulled apart.
"I love you so much Bones." He said.
She cocked an eyebrow. "Are you going to call me Bones when we are husband and wife?" She asked.
"Maybe... I haven't decided yet." He replied. She looked at her ring again.
"I love you Booth." She said, still looking at the ring.
"I love you too Bones." He said kissing her forehead. She looked up at him, and they stared into each others eyes for what seemed like forever, but neither minded. The moment felt perfect... Just perfect.
The End
Okay well, the part where Brennan says "Marriage is irrational-- but yes Booth." I wrote a LONG time ago. I wrote most of this a while ago, actually. I just finished it today though. I realized how Brennan doesn't act all rational with Sully, and decided to do that here. Tell me if I wrote her OK. I hope you like.
