It had been 30 minutes and the bride was not in sight.
It was an autumn morning in the middle of a public park, with a birthday party happening not even a quarter mile away and everyone was sticky from the humidity radiating from the lake.
The groom was waiting patiently at the makeshift altar, amid the noise pollution of the road not even half a mile away.
His in-laws have never thought they would be the ones to inform Ron that his bride to be may have chickened out. It was completely out of character of her although their daughter was often overly concerned that her career would get in the way of her marriage.
His parents remained optimistic, just as their son was.
Ron's face grew from an attentive frown, to a a concerned frown as he yelled to the congregation
"Everybody grab your chairs and MOVE NOW!"
It took only a couple seconds for the dearly beloved to witness the large spaceship approaching them at an alarming rate and proceeded to run like hell as it crashed into the public park.
A young red headed woman staggered out of the large vessel and lost balance as she wobbled in exhaustion to her fiancé.
"Sorry I'm late, Ron"
"It's alright, Honey" he assured his betrothed "Want to go to the hospital?"
"No, just tired" she did her best to convince her love that she was ready to be married at that very moment, in tattered clothes from fighting X alien race, as she tends to fight something new every month.
Approaching the couple from the right side, was their temporary officiant, Wade, a longtime friend.
"Shall I get to the end?"
"Close to it as possible" the bride chuckled.
"I now pronounce you MR. and MRS. Possible."
"Wait, you're taking my name?" The bride inquired.
"It's grown on me" and within the young man's thoughts, he admitted it was definitely a better name than stoppable.
They sealed the ceremony with a kiss, now with newfound meaning and opportunity as government authorities surrounded the area to take care of the fallen spaceship.
And as they released such a perfect moment, a tug came upon their fingers as Rufus, the family pet and best man of the ceremony placed their new rings onto their fingers.
Ron knew Kim would always be a busy woman, but to know that she would always return to him as a stay at home husband/ internet business owner. It is with a heavy heart to know that the chance of failure is great, in separation and his wife being thrown into the toils of the darkest brood, he knows that whatever she may put him through, thick and thin, hair loss and hair growth, as long as loving her was possible, he will always believe in her. For together, nothing was impossible.
I made Ron a stay at home husband because I always thought that as they grew, Kim would be concerned that the love of her life is in danger, not to say she doesn't trust him, just that she will know she can always come home to him.
