In my last rereading of Wizards at War, I found this great quote that inspired a story:

" 'And the moon is no dream,' " Roshaun said. "Well, I should say not. It's real enough. Indeed, when we went there-"

Dairine elbowed him. "Ow!" Roshaun said.

Wizards At War, pg 45

This is just a short little Dairine/Roshaun one-shot (which is seriously lacking) that I wrote really late at night, set during WH when Dairineshows Roshaun the moon. Enjoy!

With a small pop! Of displaced air, Dairine and Roshaun appeared on the moon.

"Wow," Roshaun said, looking over the horizon. "Wow."

Dairine grabbed his hand and turned him around. What he saw was even more amazing.

"Is that...your planet?"

"Yep. Isn't it beautiful?"

"Yes," he said softly. "Yes it is." He paused. "But I've seen things even more beautiful."

Dairine rolled her eyes. "Can't I take you somewhere, anywhere, where you won't compare it to your planet and tell me how much better yours is?"

A slight smile played at the corner of his lips. "No. And for once, I was not speaking of anything on my planet. Believe it or not, the most beautiful thing I've ever seen is on your little planet."

"Really," Dairine said with a snort of laughter. "Why am I having a hard time believing that?"

"I'll admit, I don't like your little planet. But there's something there that is simply beautiful."

"And what is that?"

He blushed, something that Dairine was not expecting. "Not telling," he said. "You'll laugh at me."

"No I won't!"

"Say it in the Speech."

She threw him a dirty look. After a minute, she said softly, "Please tell me?"

"Alright, fine. The most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life is you."

"You're just saying that."

"No, I'm serious." He said it in the Speech.

Dairine just looked at him for a moment, letting his words sink in. "Really?" she asked gently.

"Yeah." He turned away from her and took a few small steps forward before continuing. "It's not like I meant to fall in love with you! It just sort of happened. When I first got the information on your planet, all I really took in was your face. Something in it caught my eye, kept drawing me back to it. And when I got here, you weren't at all what I expected. You were a fiery, dynamic person. You're not just a pretty face. And then, the more I spent time with you, the more I came to realize—I love you." He turned back to face her. "It's okay if you don't feel the same way," he said softly.

"But what if I do?"

He looked at her with a smile on his face. "Then I'm the happiest man alive."

Then, before he could change his mind or feel silly, he pulled he close and kissed her. He half expected he to pull away and smack him, but he was pleasantly surprised. Instead of pulling away, she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back. They would have stayed there for eternity, lost in each other's kiss, if it hadn't been for the small pop! of displaced air. At the sound they sprung away from each other, both blushing furiously. Dairine turned toward the sound.

"Spot!" she cried, both in anger and relief. "What do you want?"

Time to go, he said. Then he vanished.

Roshaun grabbed her hand. "C'mon," he said. "Let's go fix the sun."

And you know what happens after that...
