A Song for One
You are amazing, just the way you.
Luna sat by the edge of the lake throwing pieces of bread for the Giant Squid. As she sat she sang, and as she sang the silence was filled. So she sang louder.
Her eyes, her eyes make the stars look like their not shinning.
Luna hated the quiet. No one ever spoke to her, so noise was something she had to invent for herself.
Her hair, her hair falls perfectly without her trying.
Of course the actions in which she used to keep herself from going crazy, made her seem fairly crazy. In fact maybe she was. But she liked people thinking that, because it meant they spoke to her on occasion. Even if it was insults most of the time.
She's so beautiful, and I tell her everyday.
"Luna?" Luna smiled as words escaped her lips. Someone was talking to her. She turned to see a familiar red headed boy starring down at her. George Weasley had always been so very sweet, he never once looked at her with disgust, or made fun of her.
"Hello George," she said politely before turning back to the water.
"What are you doing?" he asked just as politely.
"Singing and feeding the Giant Squid," Luna sighed answering, as she always did, in quick sentences to provoke further conversation.
"What are you singing?" he asked curiously.
"It is a muggle song I picked up," she answered.
"It sounds nice. Why are you feeding the squid?"
"It is hungry," Luna shrugged. Honestly her reason was how close this particular spot was to the Quidditch pitch, which meant she was close to noise and human interaction. `
"I have one last question," George said making Luna feel a sudden sense of dread and detachment. "Can I join you?"
"What about the game?" she asked trying desperately to keep the pure excitement out of her voice.
"It sounds nicer over here," he shrugged taking a seat next to Luna.
