The League of Legends has disbanded.
Disputes among the provinces of Valoran were waning, slowly but surely, and the idea of Summoners wielding Champions to settle arguments became obsolete. The Champions were deemed too dangerous to be let free into society by the remnants of the League. The League attempted to come to a resolution allowing as few Champions back into society as possible. The final decision was to organize a tournament-style series of battles in which Champions would fight to the death.
In this "Tournament of Legends," Champions would fight in any of the three main arenas: The Proving Grounds, the Twisted Treeline, or Summoner's Rift. The Champions would act completely of their own volition, none being controlled by Summoners. Rules would vary among each of the arenas, but Champions are not to be warned of the rule variations to make each match-up completely fair.
Most Champions had a negative response to this news, as was expected. Some Champions responded with rage, such as Tryndamere, who blindly charged into the Institute of War almost immediately after this announcement, threatening death to the council controlling the match-making. He was reprimanded, and was told that if he made another threat of that caliber he would be executed immediately. Other Champions, such as Tryndamere's more level-headed half Ashe, took it in stride, accepting the terms, only worrying about what would become of the Freljord if she met her demise.
Other Champions, however, seemed to revel in the chance to kill their rivals within the Fields of Justice. For instance, Prince Jarvan IV relished in the idea of running Jericho Swain through, and Garen, leader of the Dauntless Vanguard, was ecstatic to get a chance at seeing the graceful—and oddly attractive—Katarina Du Couteau in battle without Summoners controlling his actions. Noxian Champions, such as Draven, were only a little more than thrilled to show off their skills—unadulterated from Summoners—to the masses of Valoran.
And yet, there were some that doubted the reasoning behind this tournament. Jericho Swain and fellow Noxian Champion Darius have been seen meeting in what some say to be suspicious circumstances. Swain has also publicly denounced this tournament, saying that there is an ulterior motive behind the slaughter of Champions. There are those who agree and disagree with Swain's theory, but whether there is truly a conspiracy is something that may never be known.
The only thing that is known for sure is the first match in this tournament. It will be between Mordekaiser, the Master of Metal, and Pantheon, the Artisan of War.
A/N - Hi all! This, as some may notice, is a bit of an edit on the original intro I had for this. Okay, a lot of an edit, I basically changed it completely because when I revisited it, it read like crap. I changed things, and tried hinting at what the overarching story is actually going to be. Please stick with me, I know my updates are sporadic and few and far between but only because college is killing me and if it's not that, it's work. I swear I'm going to have a new chapter up by this weekend, just bare with me.
Also, don't forget to send me the Champion match-ups you wanna see! one on one, 3v3, or 5v5 teams are cool! Either inbox me or put it in your review. Thanks!
Much Love,
Apollo
