AN: Ok, this is quite the odd pairing, (so I've been told), but I've actually read quite a few cute James/Teddy stories. this one is Very Angsty. For my lovely Fray. :)

DISCLAIMER: Damn, do we have to go through this every time?! I own nothing. Kthxbai.

It would be a scandal. Teddy was sure of that. They couldn't have snogged in the restroom or even in a dark corner of the pub. They just had to get out in the dark alley, didn't they?

"Do we... do we blame it on alcohol? It'll be a mess of a scandal, with you being underage, but it will end sometime."

James just shot him a hurt look from the table he sat on.

"Okay, okay…" Teddy wound his thick fingers through his turquoise hair in a silent form of desperation while pacing nervously.

"What about… what if we just admit it?" James asked with half his voice while still dangling his feet absently.

"What- No! I mean… Jamie… you can't be serious…"

"And what if I am?"

James' tone was half-threatening and told Ted not to go there. The older boy stopped pacing and, slumping his shoulder slightly, he looked at James. There was a defiant light in his eyes and posture, but he still looked so young… and so wrong for Teddy.

"James… they'll tear us apart! I won't let you ruin your reputation just because of….. this." Teddy said, gesturing wildly between the two of them, his voice sounding desperate.

"Is that what our relationship is to you now? 'This'?" James narrowed his brown eyes (so like Ginny's…), sounding angry and disappointed.

"No… Jamie, I didn't mean it like that, you know."

"And what if I don't? I'm tired Ted, I'm tired of hiding and of all this rubbish. Not even our friends know. I'm tired of you being ashamed of what we have!" he finished, his voice pitching on hysterical now.

Teddy tried to open his mouth to assure James that this was certainly not the case, but he couldn't say anything. The words just refused to come out of his mouth, and the way James was looking at him, with a mixture of hope and anger in his chestnut eyes, was not helping. It was even worse when he saw that small trace of hope flicker and die down, to be replaced by a cool façade and a shake of his head before getting off the counter.

"Close your mouth, you look like a fish," was the last thing he heard from James before a door being shut gently. Not slammed, not even left open, just a small click and the younger man, the only person Teddy could say he really fell for, walked out of his life.

And the only logical thing Teddy could think of was plopping on the sofa and bury his head in his hands.

And maybe, later… maybe he cried.
