When a mother dies

When a mother dies, God takes our tears

And turns them to morning dew,

The grateful earth drinks long and deep,

And the flowers smell sweeter too!

We feel so alone in the dark of the night,

But God knows when a mother dies,

He opens the heavens and with a touch,

He brightens a star with the light from her eyes,

We miss that dear voice when a mother dies,

And oh, how the spirit grieves,

But God in His mercy, send a lullaby,

On the wind and the falling leaves.

When a mother dies, the hands are so cold

That soothed all our cares away,

Then God reminds us with every new dawn,

That her warmth is in each golden ray.

Yes, God knows when a mother dies,

He comforts our hearts while we weep,

And gently sustains us with beautiful words,

"I give My beloved ones, sleep."
