Summary: Soldiers do not feel. It is a weakness.
You do not feel. Your emotions, if it is to be believed that you have any, are locked away. They are locked away and hidden in a box that is never to be opened. Because to feel is to be weak. And you are a soldier; weakness is not permissable. You are a soldier that fights for humanity, and for freedom. To feel is to allow yourself something that will inhibit your ability to fight for the greater cause, it will harm your power to fight for the greater good of everyone that will ever come to exist.
You are not supposed to feel. But you do. Your walls are breaking, and they begin to crumble relentlessly, and as much as you resist, you cannot fight this. This is one battle you know you will not win. You will defeat the machines and their tyranny, you will help to free the human race from enslavery but you cannot fight againt feeling any more. He has made sure of that.
He is sweet, in an awkward way. He is full of a mixture of childlike wariness and enthusiasm at the same time. He is the pinnacle of Morpheus' dreams and hopes, and there is an unnerving feeling in your stomach. Because you are reminded of the Oracle, of her prophecy. Because when she told you of your destiny and of the future, internally you could hardly take her seriously. You are not capable of love. Not any more after everything you have experienced.
Looking at him when he stares at the coded Matrix on the screen behind Cypher who is pointing out the various things he can see in the scramble of letters and numbers, you almost believe her words.
The End
