Warning: Homosexuality, mention of death of a main character, and slight angst
Author's Notes: My first story in over a year. Interesting. I'm unsure about posting this, to be serious, and it may become a collection of drabbles. Please reviwew and critique for I have forgotten (!) how to write. However, I am no longer that forgiving as when I began writing and will not tolerate flames of any sorts.
It's Hard
It's hard to be in love with Naruto. This is what Sasuke thinks as his hand rakes through Naruto's hair, because this is what an Uchiha does. He thinks. He thinks about Naruto most of the time like now, usually when the other was asleep because Sasuke can't think when Naruto is awake; he barely had time to save Naruto from injuring himself. Sasuke can't help but wonder why he loves Naruto and like a true genius the answer comes to him very quickly.
Everyone loves Naruto. And Naruto loves everyone.
This is why it is hard to be in love with Naruto.
Naruto cries in his sleep, and Sasuke goes, shh shh, it's alright. And Naruto being the baby he is smiles at this. At this rate Sasuke should just sing the damn boy some lullabies every night. The usually impassive man smiles. He doesn't think he'll mind that much. He doesn't actually mind anything about Naruto, actually. Which brings him to this current problem he can't seem to solve, because nobody really does.
Naruto is drunk, and he's drunk on this day because it's the day she died. Naruto still demands Sasuke to take care of him though, even with her occupying his mind (isn't that cheating in a form? Brooding over an ex?) and he won't say thank you the next day. He never has, for five years. Sasuke doesn't mind, he never does. Sakura's death pains him too even though Naruto loving someone other then him hurts. It shouldn't hurt though because the other man (Can this puny blond really be called a man? Sasuke can't help but think he's too fragile, even though Naruto's only five centimeters shorter and ten pounds lighter) loves everyone. This is what Sasuke signed up for when he came into the relationship. He can't afford to be selfish because he loves, loves Naruto. And Naruto loves, loves everyone. He only hugs Sasuke though, before a mission, and he kisses only Sasuke though, before bed. Sasuke can't lose that because he's selfish.
Naruto mumbles 'Sakura' and breathes deeply. Sasuke pretends not to hear 'I love' in that same sentence.
