There is nothing more fascinating than being Greg Lestrade's daughter. With all of his stories he has to tell, there's never a dull moment. Occasionally, he takes me to two of his friend's houses. Their names are John Watson and Sherlock Holmes of 221B Baker Street. Before you say anything, no. They're not gay. Well, at least John isn't. God knows about Sherlock.. I wasn't quite sure what was happening on the day that he left me there. The day where he told me to stay put and be a good girl.
"Don't cause any trouble, Cara." He told me, with a sad smile on his face.
"I won't, dad." I said. And it was true. I didn't want to cause trouble. I only wanted to know what was going on, and why my dad was crying. Dad never cried.
"Don't worry about her, Greg. We'll take care of her." John assured him. I didn't know where he was going, much less what I was doing here at Baker Street. My dad gave me a big hug and kissed the top of my head.
"I love you, Cara." He said, then turned and rushed out of the roon, the door slamming behind him. I looked cluelessly from John to Sherlock, utterly confused.
"Can someone please tell me what's going on?" I was frustrated. A 13 year old should have the right to know what her father is doing. Sherlock stayed silent, slowly plucking the strings of that stupid violin of his. It made a sound on the scale between nails down a chalkboard and screeching children. John sat me down on the couch and sighed.
"We made a promise to your father when you were little, Cara. We promised that when this day came, the day your father's work caught up with him, we'd take care of you and keep you safe." He said. I sat there, blinking at him. What did he mean?
"But what about mom?" I asked, not sure if I wanted the answer or not.
"Molly's gone, Cara." Sherlock said abruptly. John shot him a look of daggers.
"But.. What do you mean she's gone" I asked blankly. Sherlock turned to the window and John looked at his hands. Something bad was going on here.
"Well, she's-" John began, but Sherlock cut him off.
"She's dead."
