On a broken road, a street lamp flickered on and off as it struggled to work.
Doing so caused shadows to spin and dance as a sign swayed back and forth with the Fall wind. However the shadows celebration to be alive short lived when a light suddenly came to life. Keeping the shadows at bay the light gave life to a scene of a simple door to a store that opened on command as a woman about her mid-thirties exited. Her clothing consisted of a simple white shirt with a jacket coming to mid back along with simple black pants and boots.
Stuffing her hands into her pockets as a sigh escaped her lips. Her failures of not finding the book were sure to have consequences of the punishment from the master. Stopping she could only think on what the punishment would be for her failure. Could it be another week in the cage? Another lashing? Another beating? She could only shudder at what she could guess was her punishment.
Looking up at the sky she could only watch as the stars twinkled, yet for some reason looking at the very stars brought an image of a rainy day, extreme pain and a face that blurred as its lips spoke to the front of her mind that all she could do was shake her head to rid the image.
With another sigh, she continued to walk forward before disappearing into the shadows.

As the moon shined on and let its rays touch whatever it could grasp, a woman woke with a snort as she came out of the land of dreams.
Confused to why she was seeing blurred letters instead of a ceiling she lifted her head only to blink as she looked down at the magazine in her lap. For a moment she stared at the magazine, questioning herself on how it came to be on her face when she remembered that she left it on the table in the living room, yet due to her mind still being covered in fog with sleep she let it slide as she placed it on the desk before standing and stretching out the kinks in her body. Hearing a crack she could only give a yawn as she let her hand fall to her side while the other rubbed at the back of her neck as she went to the window and looked out. Seeing nothing out of the ordinary she stared out the window until the sound of music grabbed her ear.
With a sigh she walked to where a phone sat, opened it, read the message, closed the phone while she grabbed a jacket with a pair of keys before walking out a door and closed it behind her.
So that's the intro of the story. What do you think? Leave reviews.
