He hated to see her like this. Hunched over the bathroom sink spitting bile up. All he could stand to do was rub her back. "Oh gods. When will this first trimester be over?" She groaned in between gags. He smiled sadly "In about a month's time my dear one." Around the same time you'll leave me again. Here she was pregnant with their first child and he was forced to miss six months of it thanks to his damn sister Demeter.
Persephone grabbed for her crown after rinsing her mouth out. She placed the heavy jewelry back on her head and smirked. How silly a queen she made now, already too big for most of her chitons. Not to mention this illness made the judging of souls a challenge. How was she to rightfully send someone to the afterlife when she had to vomit up her innards every few minutes? Hades strong hands stayed against her back even after she stood.
"Your child is already attempting to kill me." She joked. Her hands coming to rest upon his cheek. He raised a dark eyebrow. "What did you expect my destroyer of light? Your childis just like it's mother."
Persephone laughed
"You are trouble." She spoke to her unborn child.
"Just like you." Hades grasped for her hand. Another wave of sadness came over him. He couldn't give up his wife and child in this way. He'd go mad. He soaked in her slender neck and heaving breasts. Her protruding stomach and rounding hips. He wouldn't just let her go.
She led him from the bathing room out into their sleeping chamber. It was much too late to be heaving now. 'So much for morning sickness.' At all hours of the day and night she could be found hunched over in illness. For now at least it had subsided.
"Come husband. There is work to do in the morning." She yawned. Her gaze softening as she met his adoring one.
"There is always work to do. Those retched souls keep coming. Let us stay up."He wanted to convince her to drag out the day. Tomorrow came too quickly and tomorrow meant she was leaving one day sooner.
"Hades what is that glint in your eye?" Persephone asked suspicious.
"One of love I'm sure." He responded voice now heady.
He moved closer to her. "The night is young, my love." His hands came up to caress her shoulders. She turned to him smiling. "Perhaps I am not so tired after all. But however would we fill the time until morning?" She was goading him. It was working.
"I have an idea." He smiled.
