I seized my chance, the silly mother was busily picking berries and the simple nymphs gathering flowers. Ignoring the most precious flower of all. The one I had vowed would bloom only for me. I urged my horses quickly up the the surface and pulled my blossom to my side and sped backdownwards again. She cried out in alarm, but even the sound of her anguish was music to my ears.
We arrived at my palace shortly and I carried her, kicking furiously to my chamber and set her down gently on the bed. "Welcome, my bride."
"HADES! Please take me back! What are you doing?!"
"I'm afraid I will never take you back, my love, I have loved you since I laid eyes on you, and wish you to be my queen."
"But I don't belong here! I want to go home, please take me home!" She whimpered self-pityingly. I grew angry, she should be happy that I was offering her a kingdom!
"We will be married this evening and you will be my bride and queen of the underworld! That is my final word!" I turned on my heel and stormed out, leaving her to collapse in a heap onto the floor, sobbing.
I felt wretched for the next few hours. I couldn't control myself around her. She had bewitched me utterly. I must be a monster in her eyes now. How could I have stolen her away from her home. No! This was where she belonged, she just had to realize that. I began to prepare for the wedding.
Two shadowy women were the procession behind my gorgeous bride in her flowing white gown as she approached my throne. She was no longer crying, but no smile graced her sweet mouth. I kissed her hand gently and gided her to her seat. She was mine now.
Even after Zeus commanded that she had to spend some months with her mother, she returned willingly, if not ecstatically. I simply watch her. I cannot bring myself to take her without her loving me back. And I care too much for her purity. That one flower below the earth, my one ray of light must remain bright. Each day I live for her smiles at me. I feel that she opens up to me more now. Confiding in me, trusting me. I know I do not deserve this beautiful creature's love, but if I ever obtain it, I would walk through the rivers of tartarus to keep it.
Today she kissed my cheek.
