Mr. Jones and the Ghosts of Animals Past,
Present and Future
Mr. Jones was a mean old man. He was never nice to animals, until one night he had an experience that changed his life forever. It was six days after the animals had taken over the farm; he was tired and hungry, but especially grumpy. He tried to go to sleep, but then he heard a strange noise. He got up and walked around trying to find out what was making such an awful noise. When he was wandering the streets, he saw a cow, but this wasn't any ordinary cow: It was somewhat transparent.
He walked over, afraid to go near it. When he came closer it said, "Mr. Jones, I am the ghost of animals past. I have come to take you back in time so you can see how happy animals used to be".
"But I don't want to go back in time," said Mr. Jones
"You should have thought of that before you caused the animals to have a revolution," said the cow. Then, with a poof of smoke, they went flying into the past. "Where are we?" asked Mr. Jones.
"We are back on the fields of England, before humans started mistreating animals," said the cow.
"How come none of the animals can see me?" asked Mr. Jones.
"Because you are not really here," said the cow. Mr. Jones looked puzzled but he did not speak up. They started wandering the fields until they came across a young horse. He looked so happy jumping around. Mr. Jones thought back to how he hadn't treated his animals very well. He began to feel sorry for all of his animals, but then he remembered how his animals had attacked him. He started to get angry again, so the cow said that it was time to go. Then, with a puff of smoke, he went back to the present.
Mr. Jones was happy to be back, but then he heard another noise. "Oh no," he thought to himself, but he couldn't help himself from investigating. He thought he would find another cow, but he was not surprised to find a pig sitting there in front of him. The pig quickly took him away before he could say anything; then, with a puff of smoke, they were at the farm.
They looked in one of the windows and they saw Napoleon and Snowball discussing war strategies. Neither of them looked to be pleased with the other. Mr. Jones was truly shocked: He did not think that the animals were this smart. He turned around and saw the animals working harder than he ever thought they could: The chickens were sitting by a mountain of eggs, the cows had produced countless buckets of milk and the farm was alive. The farm animals were happy, but he was still suspicious about Napoleon and Snowball. He wondered what they were doing, but then poof!
He was back where he belonged. Mr. Jones was grateful to finally get some sleep when he heard more weird noises. He looked around and found a chicken. The chicken clucked and then poof, into the future they went.
Mr. Jones soon realized that the sky was grey. He also noticed that it was very foggy outside. Then he saw a shadow vaguely in the horizon. Soon he saw lots of figures surrounding the first one. When he got closer he realized that it was the farm animals surrounding him. They moved closer, and closer, and closer. Then all of a sudden, BANG! The future Mr. Jones fell to the ground. Mr. Jones begged for the chicken to take him back to the present, but the chicken refused.
A few days later, the farm animals burned Mr. Jones' body. Then they erupted into a song that Mr. Jones had never heard of. He didn't hear most of it but, he could make out the phrase "beasts of England." The chicken then said that if Mr. Jones did not try to defeat the animals, this is what would happen. Mr. Jones started to fear the animals. Then, he realized something: The plans he saw Snowball and Napoleon making were the plans to kill him! He realized then that his only option was to pay a visit to his old farm.
