There's a man that loves a woman with all his heart. For her; he's willing to let her go. He wears a mask that slowly cracks with each passing moment. Yearning for her to see past his deadpan expression; to see that the foolish man that is willing to let her slip through his fingers.
It is he that lets her go. To have a fairy-tale wedding with the one she was destined to be with. She will never see past his cruel misdeeds. To her, he will be the man she slept with and had his child. The bastard that robs others of lives.
He'd risked it all for her and the child that carries his blood. He'd die for the woman and their child. It seems that all she cares about is her people and child. There's no room for him in her heart. A heart he yearned to have and protect. He'll never have it.
He lost her in an endless sea of lost potential and misguided souls. If he was to lose her, he'd willingly give her to his brother. But it's not him who took her way. It's the man that has been her knight in shining armor before he came along.
Niklaus would forever be the man that lingers in the shadow of the woman who entered his heart. Whether, she left him feeling some type of emotions (romantic or platonic) towards her. He will be there to protect his little wolf.
He'll be that man she goes to when she needs advise, help and comfort. After all he is the father of her child and they will always and forever be linked. So as long as they both shall live they will be the constant figure in each other's lives.
