Little Numb3rs

Summary: Teensy drabbles, mostly Don and Charlie centric, of varying genres, styles, lengths etc. Mostly fluff.

A/N: Rather than post countless tiny stories I'll just compile them here, lol.

I do not own Numb3rs or any of the following characters.

Barrier

Don thinks of a brick wall when he looks at his brother now.

He imagines himself running at it, throwing himself against it, shouting at it, struggling to smash through it. He sits by it, guards it, tries even to listen to it speak.

He tries to understand it, in his mind. Understand how it can be so tough to break through, so vulnerable on the other side.

Sometimes he gets angry, lashes out, screams, begs for it to listen to him and open up. He begs for it to do something, anything, just as long as it lets down its guard for even a few minutes, and lets him in. Lets him help, lets him comfort, lets him make everything bad go away.

Lets him nurture and protect the vulnerable side. Lets him dry the tears.

But he knows he has to face facts.

Trying to make Charlie stop hurting right now is like trying to talk to a brick wall.
