Chapter 1: Preview

"That idiot, why would he cast an Invado Impetus charm as a defense. I swear he's such an idiot," Lily Evans screeched. Everyone who was within a miles radius of Hogwarts (which was quite a lot if you consider all the students, teachers, and magical creatures)!
She was often taunted by the exact boy who had almost killed himself, which, as a result would have resulted in Hogwarts closing and it was NEWTs year as well. The question her friend Phyllis was wondering was why did she care about her sworn enemy's welfare? She couldn't- it wouldn't...it did.
Lily Evans was one the brightest students in Hogwarts, she was often compared to Godric himself! The only thing that she seemed to be unaware of was her ever growing affection for a messy-haired, incompetent James Potter. Phyllis had saw the way she always stared at his tousled head and the way she was hurt by his words (even though she was taunted by all of Slytherin house and most of Ravenclaw).
What she also saw was the way James Potter looked at Lily, it only took a while for her to do the sums and finally realise what was indeed going on. "Merlin help me! Phyllis he could have killed himself, an Invado Impetus is only to be used when attacking, if used as a defence it would either backfire or be dissolved into the opposition's spell, and even then what if Sirius hadn't cast yet?
He would definitely be dead, " she bellowed to her friend of six years. hHer face went a deep purple which only helped support Phyllis ' theory that the two were infatuated with each other; she couldn't prove it though, she would need help and she knew the exact person for the job. Remus Lupin... it helped that the boy in question was easy on the eyes, but - no, she couldn't permit herself to think about him in that way, it was time for a bit of Jily love!
