Name
What is your name?
Your smile, your voice,
Still selfless in a world doomed to fall
Is it really okay for you to laugh right now?
...
Did someone give it to you
Or was it something you created
To run from the weak human you truly are?
...
The calm and laid back attitude
It's the mask you wear to reassure them
When in reality you can only watch in horror
As young children are sent to war
...
Your orders are simple: live, endure, survive
As you pray for their safe return
Knowing that not all of them will survive the night
...
What happened to you?
You selfishly told your friends to go without you
Fully knowing the pain it will cause
As well as the tears they, she, will shed
...
Did you forget your promise
To come home alive, to endure, to survive
Or were you lying back then, too?
...
Look at you now, broken
and bleeding, you smoke your last
More enemies are coming, the end is near
You can't go on like this
...
Why are you still smiling?
Are you proud that your comrades live to grieve,
While you face this world, this madness, alone?
What is your name?
...
...
...
...
...
Is it my name?
A/N: AH freaking line spacing! I don't like how FF doesn't let you put those. The only thing that would work is the ellipses here so I'm sorry if it's distracting. Anyway, this is the result of my creative writing class. I think my poetry got a little better...haha. However I got the main idea from this other poem. I wonder if anyone can figure it out. It was pretty popular.
But yes, this is sort of my take on Lindow (albeit before he gets found again). This starts from around the time he became a God Eater to the time he goes missing.
Or even if you don't know God Eater, you can take it from a soldier's standpoint. How, as he continues to survive, he is forced to watch the next generation fall into the ranks and look up to him in awe at his survival. How he sees their guileless eyes as they think he can help them survive when in reality he can't save them all. How he knows he is not as infallible as they think.
I hope this moved some people and had them think just a moment about survivors and what they live through.
