Life is a funny old thing. You're born, you live, you die; if you're exceptional, you manage to make a difference in the world. But by Hikari's logic, everybody makes a difference somehow. They will touch someone's life; they might not know who, and they might not know when, but she's sure it'll happen for everyone. Likewise, she believes that everybody's lives will be touched by someone. Maybe by their closest friend, or perhaps by someone they've only just met. It's a chain of contact that keeps everyone going and helps everything to continue the way it's supposed to.

Hikari has found this special someone. Sora was right under her nose and she didn't realise for quite some time that Sora was the person that would end up making a difference to her. And she never expected to be the one making a difference to Sora. But it had happened, gradually at first, before one after the other they had caught on; they knew that it wasn't just chance, or coincidence. They had something special, and they wouldn't give it up for the world.

By day it's easy and carefree; they laugh and they smile and they enjoy themselves. They make the most of being alive, and never forget how lucky they are to know each other. Hikari had been sure that Sora's special someone would have been Mimi or Yamato, while almost everyone thought that Hikari and Takeru were a match made in heaven. It had been quite a surprise to find out they were wrong, but they still didn't and never will waste a moment.

But when they're covered by the cloak of night they give in to their passion. Clothes are discarded and limbs end up tangled together as flesh is pressed in a familiar ballet. Sounds start as gasps and peak as screams, and both of them must know that their heartbeats are the same, thumping against each other in perfect sync. Eventually the noise gives way to two patterns of soft, slow breathing, and everything pauses until the sun comes up again.

By Hikari's logic, everybody makes a difference somehow and changes someone's life, just as somebody else will touch theirs. She just wasn't expecting to change Sora's.
