THIS STORY IS BEING REVAMPED!

"Darn it, I'm late! Nice stunt there, Petra. Dad's going to kill me." I muttered to myself.

I'd been out with my friends celebrating Marco's birthday and of course hadn't bothered to check the time. This resulted in my running as fast as I could through the empty streets of Rose under a dark moonless sky, well after midnight. To top it all off, my phone had run out of battery and I was still fifteen minutes from home. It'd been such a sudden realization that I'd dashed out of my friend's house while still chewing on the remains of a strawberry lollipop. I slowed down to catch my breath and wait for a side stitch to go away. Leaning my back on the wall of a nearby six-story building, I looked up hoping to catch the sight of a few stars. However, I saw something a whole lot more terrifying. A shadow. The shadow of a person in a long coat, leaning over the edge. My first thought was that they weren't here to admire the view. My insides started contracting as fear struck me. Moving on it's own, my body rushed towards the emergency staircase and I climbed as quickly as I could, praying that the person was still there when I'd get to the roof. Thank God, they were.

"Hey!" I almost shouted, trying to catch both my breath and their attention. "Are you okay?"

It was a man. A quite short one, I doubted that he was taller than me. At the sound of my voice he slowly turned around. At the time, I paid no attention to the fact that his eyes were clearly visible to me while the rest of him remained hidden by the shadows of the night. He looked at me for a few seconds before jumping on the edge of the roof. Again, I thought my heart was going to stop and dashed forward, crossing the distance between us in mere seconds and clutching his arm as hard as I could before he could jump.

"Please wait! You can't!" He once more turned to me and stared, an expression of surprise in his eyes. "You can't jump! Are you in trouble? Why do you want to die so bad?"

With my distinct lack of suicide prevention knowledge, I spouted whatever came to mind. Most of it turned out to sound like the lines from a movie. He still did not answer and remained quiet.

"Can I do something for you? I can call someone or..."

I stopped talking when a chuckle escaped his lips. I stared, confused and suddenly a little worried. The smirk appearing on his face might have been the reason for that. Now that I was this close, his features were a lot clearer. And I found myself thinking he was handsome. He jumped off the small wall and faced me completely this time. A gloved hand grabbed a lock of my hair and gently tugged on it.

"It's dangerous to be so reckless. Approaching a stranger like me at this hour." His tone was incredibly smooth and inviting. So much that it was scary. I wanted to back away but my legs wouldn't obey me.

"I-I uh..." Were all the words that found their way out of my mouth.

"I wasn't trying to die. Still maybe I should thank you for worrying about me."

The stranger let my hair slip through his fingers before grabbing my chin gently. Leaning forward, he left his face only inches from mine, but I could feel no warmth from our closeness. And my legs, darn them, still refused to move.

"I like that look in your eyes. What's your name love?"

"P-Petra."

I didn't know what kind of force compelled me to answer, but I cursed it the instant I gave the answer. That guy seemed like a total creep! Even though he hadn't actually done anything yet... I was pulled from my thoughts when he suddenly got closer and gave a quick lick to my lips still covered in artificial sugar. The shock seemed to return my capacity of movement and I backed off, covering my mouth. Forget my earlier thoughts, this guy was a total creep. He hummed in satisfaction and that sent shivers down my spine.

"What do you think you're doing you creep?"

"You taste like strawberries, it's nice. Well, 'till we meet again, my naive little savior. I'll be sure to return the favor someday."

Throwing one last grin towards me, he jumped over the edge in one swift and elegant move. I remained paralyzed, unable to think for a minute. After snapping out of it, I dashed towards the edge and looked over, expecting to find a bloody corpse. Instead, I saw him standing on another lower roof that was still a good twenty feet down! One would have to be an extremely skilled and reckless free runner to be able to do that. I stared in awe as he glanced one last time before disappearing from my sight.

At the time, little did I know that this encounter was only the start of a much more terrifying series of events. Unlike no one could've ever imagined.
