Hey so this is my second story I'm posting in my five years of being here on Fanfiction wow. I got the idea after watching Doctor Who again. I'm not sure if I'm going to finish soooo yeahh.
I don't own anything, clearly. All right reserved to the creators of Doctor Who.
Do you know that feeling when you get up too fast? Everything gets fussy, you can't see a damned thing, and there's a ringing in your ear. It's happens to a lot of people, but lately these dizzy spells seem like something more. It was last Thursday when getting ready to leave work at the Library that I felt it. I was checking the isles to make sure no books were thrown to the floor by some rowdy kids when it happened. A light at the end on the isle I was in began to flicker. Now this probably may sound like the start of a horror film, but no, it's worse. The library was quite old and the people who owned it were just too darn cheap to pay to fix it.
I did find a book on the floor though. It was the wizard of oz. A classic and one of my favorites. I mentally cursed the kid who must have thrown it to the floor. I checked the bindings to make sure it was alright. Seemed fine enough so I decided to open it and maybe read a little before I had to leave. But when I opened it I couldn't make out the words. They were fussy and the ringing in my ear started. Oh no, I thought, this again. It always started when I was in the library and no where else. My mother always said I would strain my eyes if I read too much. But it didn't go away this time. I looked up from the book as the lights flickered even more. My vision only worsened. I couldn't continue to stand so I sat down on the floor. My vision was completely black. Then the ringing in my ear was replaced with a kind of buzzing noise.
When I woke up inches from my face was the face of a man. He was wearing glasses and had an interested look on his face. I kept still and stared back. I blinked once. The man looked young, maybe a few years older than me. His hair was brown and messy. The front bits were sticking out in different directions. He wore a nice stripped suit and converse as shoes. It's like the man was trying to pass for an adult but didn't quite make it.
"Well, you seem to be alright now" said the man. " a bit of a dizzy spell, do those happen often?" He got up. I didn't say anything he just went on talking.
"Ah yes, a librarian. Meredith Fletcher just out of college and you decided to become a Librarian. Most people want eccentric jobs," He started pacing "ones that make lots of money," he stopped. "nottt that you don't make a good living. More people should be librarians. Yeah, there's few people who do appreciate being surrounded by knowledge. But you, you see the value in it don't you?"
I nodded "it's also quiet" I got up "do you ever shut up?" I questioned him.
He just looked at me through his glasses and pondered.
"Well sometimes when there's nothing to be said but in this certain situation I find it best to talk, it's kind of how I figure things out because my mind is thinking of a million things at once. But I always seem to come up with a solution to the problem."
"And what problem is that?" I asked.
"The fact that we are in fact not in the library but what seems to be Munchkin Land" He raised his eyes brows and motioned his hand to the area surrounding us.
All around us were little houses. Right below my feet it was there. The yellow and red brick road from the story. The lily pad pool and all.
I looked at the man in front of me with wide eyes. "How the hell did we get here?!"
I might go back and change some things as I wrote this very fast and there are most defiantly more than one mistake in here.
