Hermione shivered as she stepped outside Hogwarts grounds. It was snowing heavily and everything seemed Christmassy and cheery. Hagrid had brought in the twelve Christmas tress as usual and the paintings have started singing Christmas carols. Even the ghost's are in a good mood.

She was the only one out of the Golden Trio to go back to Hogwarts to continue with her studies. Ron thought it was mad and left her. Harry has gone to train to be an excellent Chaser.

She sighed as she touched the snow with her feet and heard it crunch. She loved the snow and winter.

She shivered slightly, and she realized she didn't bring a coat with her.

"Cold Miss Granger?" A cold voice asked and Hermione turned around to see Severus walking towards her.

"Just a bit," She replied, smiling.

Severus sighed and took of his coat and wrapped it around Hermione.

She suppressed a slight shiver at his touch and she instantly felt warmer.

"Thank you," She said after a couple of minutes. He nodded and looked at the frozen lake ahead of them.

"Are you not cold?" She asked.

"I am used to the cold Miss Granger. You should not worry about my health."

"I care because you are my friend Severus. Yes, I am calling you by first name. But everyone here is equal! Don't you see? Now that the War is over, nearly everything is peaceful. Please Severus, I am your friend and I am concerned about you." She pleaded.

Severus looked bewildered at her before looking away.

"Of Course Hermione. You can become my friend. But you are only allowed to call me Severus in private."

She smiled and they walked underneath the trees.

"I love the snow. It's a beautiful thing,"

"If you say so…"

She crouched and made a snowball in her hand. Severus looked at her curiously as she smirked and then realization hit him and he made a run for it but Hermione with perfect aim hit him in the back of the head.

She smiled innocently.

Severus glared at her and growled before making a snowball and aimed it at her.

It her on the shoulder, which caused her to fall, and she gasped.

Severus looked concerned and walked over to her to see her smiling as she threw a snowball at him and there he fell next to her.

She smiled at him and for a long time, Severus smiled back, feeling young and happy than he had in a long time.
