One and only disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Riot, just a fan looking to flesh out the characters

To Purge

He fought Demacia because it was necessary, not because he wanted to. The opposing army was simply a small stumbling block to overcome in the achievement of his visions of the Noxus he knew would exist. No, their true enemy was not their sister city, but rather themselves.

Noxus was crumbling from within, corrupt and careless nobility crushing the less fortunate under their every whim and interest. Soon enough their weight would collapse in on itself and their army would have nothing left to come home to, nothing left to fight for. That's where the Hand of Noxus stepped in.

Darius was no Angel of the Battlefield, but with axe in hand he decisively cut down the demons bringing his city to ruin. One by one he began executing those he deemed worthy of death with overwhelming force, a cold look in his eye and a snarl on his lips. Those who witnessed his violent one-man revolution claimed he was no human, but a monster; no, a monster would kill an entire family, but he was better than that. Darius would make sure that the privileged children of these families watched as their elders paid the price of their ignorance, giving them the chance to learn from their mistakes. A second chance to clear their family name, that's what it was.

Not everyone saw eye-to-eye with him on this one.

But what people didn't understand, the key fact that didn't make him inhuman, was that he didn't kill for fun, for sport.

Unnecessarily.

He wasn't a maniac or sadist. He didn't slaughter innocents just because he could. They were the victims of the lousy government, they were not to be harmed, not by him. Unfortunately, they did not understand this, only causing him to gain a status of fear. He was fighting for his people, yet he wasn't the people's champion. He was no Garen, no hero to be loved.

Darius treasured strength above all, but defended the weak and helpless, the ones who couldn't protect themselves.

And yet... they didn't even realize it.

But that was no matter to him, not anymore. He wasn't looking for praise or status; no, that was his brother's thing. He was a revolutionary (visionary), destroying and rebuilding and molding a Noxus worthy to hold Runeterra in the palm of its hand.

One day they would all understand that he was just creating a better city, one that would sustain its people.

One that would be better for two scared little boys, orphaned brothers, nothing if not alone in the world.

A/N: Just for clarity, I have nothing against Demacia. Truthfully I would support them in the war but that's sort of beside the point. Who knows, I may even follow this set of drabbles up with one for the Demacian champions.

Anyhoo, Darius is my third favorite male champion, right under Jayce and Lucian. There's just so much potential when it comes to revolutionary characters. Ahhh, I could go on about him for hours.

Next up will either be Katarina or LeBlanc, whichever I feel more like writing. Feel free to let me know what you think so far via review ;)

Until next time, fellow summoners~
