Operation Jessie
There was something different about her.
Not in a bad way, of course. The way her eyes sparkled when she spoke enthusiastically, the texture of her yarn hair... She stood out like a shooting star, painting the night sky. He was a space toy. She was a cowgirl. It would be an unlikely pair, but as hard as it was to get the feeling out of his system, they'd always be there at the end of the day.
They were friends, right? Playing checkers, stargazing, setting up rodeo with Bullseye and Buster. The days turned into months. The months turned into years. And those feelings were still there.
Then it hit Buzz.
Did he... like her?
He always kept himself in check. Keep everything professional, so the mission won't be compromised. With Jessie... she was unpredictable. With her, there was a whole new world he never knew. With the sound of her voice, she shattered all the rigidness.
He tried his utmost to gather the strength to tell her, though when she was around, he couldn't feel his knees. His throat clogged up, and the words couldn't come out. Operation: Confess to Jessie always seemed to fail...
Time went by fast. Andy was growing up. Toys were either donated or in the yard sale, one by one... Buzz was relieved when Andy didn't choose to give away Jessie.
There would never be a toy like her.
Then once Andy was at his last year of high school and received his college acceptance letter... The toys didn't know what was going to happen to them, but one word were all on their minds: donation. Yes, children would play with them, but they'd be separated. Buzz realized time was running out.
All that time, holding back how he truly felt. All that time, missing out on opportunity. All that time... when they could have been together. If they were to be separated, Buzz couldn't bear it. But the greater agony would be if Jessie didn't knew how he really felt...
She had to know. She had to... Not telling her would be his greatest regret.
Operation: Confess to Jessie turned into Operation: Jessie Now or Never.
